Overview
Recently, we have received reports from clients that some individuals are calling hotels claiming to be from the ASI Software Team and requesting remote access to computers under the pretext of performing system upgrades or maintenance.
Please note that ASI does not request remote access through unsolicited phone calls. Any planned upgrades, maintenance activities, or remote support sessions are always communicated through official channels such as email or scheduled support communication.
These calls may be fraud attempts intended to gain unauthorized access to hotel systems or sensitive data.
Common Fraud Tactics⚠️→
Fraudsters may attempt to:
- Call the hotel, claiming they are from ASI technical support
- Ask for remote access to the system
- Claim there is a system upgrade, error, or urgent maintenance
- Request login credentials or sensitive information
- Create urgency to pressure staff into granting access
Staff should never provide system access based solely on a phone call.
Official ASI Verification Process (OTP Authentication)✅→
To protect our clients from such fraud attempts, ASI has implemented an OTP-based verification system within PMS.
This system allows hotels to verify whether the caller is genuinely from ASI before allowing any remote support or system access.
How the OTP Verification Works🔐→
- When someone claims to be calling from ASI support, do not provide immediate access.
- Open the OTP Verification option in PMS.
- Generate an OTP (One-Time Password) from the system.
- Ask the caller to provide the same OTP to confirm their identity.
- The caller must provide the correct OTP to prove they are an authorized ASI team member.
Result📊→
- Correct OTP→ Caller is verified as an authorized ASI support representative.
- Incorrect OTP→ Caller is not verified. Immediately disconnect the call and report the incident.
Important Security Guidelines🛡️→
To keep your system and data secure, please follow these best practices:
- Never give remote access to unknown callers.
- Do not share passwords, OTPs, or login credentials.
- Always verify ASI staff using the PMS OTP verification system.
- Do not install any software or remote tools suggested by unknown callers.
- Report suspicious calls to ASI support immediately.
What To Do If You Receive a Suspicious Call🚨→
If someone claims to be from ASI and requests remote access:
- Do not grant access immediately.
- Use the PMS OTP verification process.
- If the OTP verification fails, disconnect the call.
- Inform your hotel management and report the incident to ASI Support.
Our Commitment💙→
ASI takes the security and privacy of our clients very seriously. The OTP verification system has been implemented to ensure that only authorized ASI personnel can provide support.
We strongly recommend that all hotels follow this verification process before allowing any remote access.
